Browse through our gallery to see how we’ve restored the pub’s best features: the huge open log fire; the replenished old ceiling beams; even the half panelled walls have all been given a new lease of life. The snug bar with it’s carved chair has been refreshed into the perfect spot for enjoying a convivial chat and a glass or two of real ale. The dining tables rest on a new oak floor leading onto a secluded landscaped garden terrace surrounded by unspoilt Cheshire countryside.
FOXY TALE... The Fox & Barrel was built between 1861 and 1869 and was first owned by William Billington. Surrounded by beautiful, open countryside it’s easy to understand how its name (reflected in our new identity) derived itself from the occasion when the landlord allowed an errant fox the sanctuary of the
cellar. Lucky fox!

In June 2008 the Fox & Barrel re-opened under new management. Extensive renovations both inside and out have resulted in a welcoming and refined ambience – combining inviting dining areas with traditional ‘nooks and crannies’. The garden terrace provides an alfresco alternative, making us not only a pub for all tastes, but a pub for all seasons
